Do you have an urge to see dragons in the Han Solo movie? And NOT just the one that Luke showed Leia before he knew she was his twin sister?
Emilia Clarke cast in Han Solo movie
Clarke has signed on for an unspecified lead role within the movie, beating fellow actors during numerous grueling casting sessions run throughout 2016. Clarke reportedly beat Tessa Thompson (Selma and Creed), Naomi Scott (in the upcoming Power Rangers movie) and Zoe Kravitz (of the Kravitz royal family).
It seems, along with most of the world and the Terminator casting directors, Phil Lord and Christopher Miller couldn’t resist casting the exceptional Game of Thrones actress for their Han Solo Star Wars Anthology movie.
Clarke, an exceptional actress, has been nominated for 3 Emmy’s for her role in Game of Thrones. She also brought a tougher persona to the role of Sarah Connor in last years Terminator: Genisys, although she will not be appearing in future sequels.
Clarke joins an already young star-studded cast with Alden Ehrenreich as Han Solo (seen recently in Rules Don’t Apply) and Donald Glover as smuggler Lando Calrissian (seen recently in the awesome rap-centric Atlanta).
The movie, which gives a glance into the younger days of charismatic smuggler Han Solo (originally played by Harrison Ford), is set prior to Star Wars: A New Hope, and follows the trend of spinoff Star Wars stories that provide padding to the Star Wars cannon such as the upcoming Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
There’s still a while to go with production scheduled to start in January 2017 and a release date of May 25, 2018. However, with the latest Star Wars: The Force Awakens making over $2 billion, I don’t think they’ll have to try too hard to recoup their money with a Han Solo centred story.
At this point, Disney are pretty much printing money and using it as toilet paper and why not? Seriously, they want to know why they shouldn’t be doing that especially as the cash is making it back in to general circulation which we use (Yikes!).
The question now on everyone’s minds is: whom will she be playing in the Han Solo movie? With Disney’s recent trend to write strong female leads (The Force Awakens and Rogue One), it’s safe to say that she will not just be written as merely a love interest, especially as Clarke is known for her strong female roles.
Only time will tell and hopefully we’ll found out soon. What are your thoughts on this casting and the others playing Han Solo and Lando Calrissian? Tell us below!
